I read your article and thought your readers would be interested in a cookbook I publish called Mix-A-Meal Cookbook. It teaches people how to save money and time by making their own mixes out of basic dehydrated foods. The ingredients are shelf-stable so you can buy them now and use later when food prices are higher. For more info visit www.mixameal.com.

Hello Brian,
Thanks for that heads up. I'm a bit embarrassed to say that I didn't fully investigate the service, but I was wondering how something could be "free" that other companies charge for. I've heard great things about Magic Jack as well, so maybe that is the best way to go in some cases.
I do like the fact that the computer can be off and the Ooma seems to have a more professional structure to support its future. It also seems to be more likely to 'feel' like a land line for the first time VoIP user. I appreciate your feedback on this one.

Actually, that's not really true about the Ooma- According to the review over at http://www.infonotmercial.com/ooma-telo-review.html , they still charge you annual fees for regulatory stuff and taxes. They don't advertise this, which is kind of misleading. After watching that review, I'm not sure if I really want one.

Personally, I went with a Magic Jack. Its similar to the Ooma, but much less of an investment upfront. The annual fees for the MJ are almost the same as the surprise regulatory fees for the Ooma.
I think that website has a comparison review as well- worth checking out.
